Our return to in-person training in the Bay Area this month was a huge success. It was a joy to be with our community again face-to-face. A heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us and to all those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring this Girls Circle Facilitator Training to life. We’re already looking forward to the next one!

Running a Circle group is an excellent example of how a facilitator can be an “askable adult” and foster adult-youth communication. As I think about the importance of Let's Talk Month, I remember participating in The Council for Boys and Young Men Facilitator Training and providing additional training for the facilitators.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Suicide is the leading cause of death for young people ages 10-24. Youth mental health is important and often underestimated. Adolescence is a pivotal time where biological, psychological, and social changes occur, often simultaneously. It is important for us to recognize that youth need our help and support. We must be the approachable and askable adults they can turn to when they need a listening ear.

As we soak up the last days of summer, let's continue to ignite the spark of transformation in every Circle. Your dedication inspires growth, connection, and positivechange – keep shining brightly.

Message from Our E.D. July was a full month at One Circle Foundation. We attended the American School Counselors Association conference, launched updated and new digital curricula, celebrated one of our staff members getting married, welcomed two new members to our Board of Directors, and connected with countless organizations and facilitators to provide support, training, and resources from all over the US and a few folks from Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone, and Canada. Supporting facilitators, communities, and youth is what we live for at One Circle Foundation. We’re proliferators of Circle guardians worldwide, and we are here to support you in this work. This month, we traveled to Kansas City, MO, to exhibit at the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Conference. The theme was "Fired Up," and let me tell you… the participants, indeed, were. Over 3,000 school counselors, administrators, private practice clinicians, community organizations, and teachers gathered to find resources to help them support the youth in their communities. The energy and enthusiasm were palpable, and the experience motivated us more than ever to make a positive impact. 

After years of fighting for rights for the LGBTQ+ community, I believed the fight was over, as we had achieved what we had fought for. However, during One Circle Foundation trainings, I have been reminded that our battle is far from over, and the future of LGBTQ+ youth depends on all of us speaking up, showing up, and supporting all youth! Read more.
