Annually, over 100,000 minors are victims of sex trafficking in the U.S., most of whom are youth in vulnerable populations. This session increases awareness, promotes skills to avoid or deter traffickers, and supports and assists youth. Activities include a misconceptions vs. facts exercise, a pairs task to identify signs, effects, prevention tips, and ways to help peers, and co-creating a box where discreet messages can be shared with the facilitator.
Sex traffickers exploit children and teens for financial gain by using force, fraud, and coercion to attract or ensnare them and subject them to sex with paying customers. Annually, over 100,000 minors are victims of sex trafficking in the U.S., most of whom are youth in vulnerable populations.
