Labor Trafficking – (Digital Session from All Together Rising)

Labor trafficking* is forced or coerced labor for someone else’s financial benefit. Youth may be tricked or forced by labor traffickers into working in exchange for basic needs, like food, shelter, transportation, or, if addicted, their drugs. 

This supplemental session offers an in-depth discussion promoting an understanding of the everyday interactions traffickers use to engage young people, where these interactions take place and their motives. Participants will identify basic needs that traffickers exploit and develop skills to meet those needs and access resources without being engaged in labor trafficking. They’ll create posters to inform peers and post locally and on social media, and consider additional actions they may take together to reduce the risks of labor trafficking. For use with Girls Circle, The Council for Boys and Young Men, or Unity Circle, and other group settings where safety has been established.
