Community Violence is a massive public health problem that severely affects every child, adolescent, family, and community, whether occurring in schools, neighborhoods, places of worship, stores, or cultural gatherings. In Part 1, youth collaborate to analyze plausible scenarios and engage in problem-solving to help prevent future violence. In Part 2, they consider underlying conditions that influence community violence and experience an introspective drawing or writing exercise toward developing a personalized healing pathway.
Community Violence is a massive public health problem that severely affects every child, adolescent, family, and community, whether occurring in schools, neighborhoods, places of worship, stores, or cultural gatherings. Yet, many impacted youth go without the opportunity to discuss what has happened. This two-session supplement offers acknowledgment, support, self-expression, skills, and resources for teens, to be provided consecutively or independently.
In Part 1, youth collaborate to analyze plausible scenarios and engage in problem-solving to help prevent future violence. In Part 2, they consider underlying conditions that influence community violence and experience an introspective drawing or writing exercise toward developing a personalized healing pathway. For use with Girls Circle, The Council for Boys and Young Men, or Unity Circle, and other group settings where safety has been established.
