Meet Kevin - Building Trust and Brotherhood Through Circles

The lived experiences of fellow Circle facilitators remind us that we’re not alone in this work. Today, we’re spotlighting Kevin Anthony Green, Chief Visionary & CEO of Seeds of a Father. His reflections illuminate the power of presence, connection, and the life-changing impact of Circles.

When Seeds of a Father Began Offering Circles

“Seeds of a Father has been serving the community since October 2013. However, in 2023, after completing the Council for Boys and Young Men Facilitator Training, we began integrating this proven curriculum into our work. This training has enhanced our ability to create impactful, structured spaces where boys and young men can build life skills, strengthen their sense of identity, and develop the tools they need to succeed. By combining our decade of experience with the Council’s evidence-based approach, we’ve been able to make an even greater, measurable impact in the lives of those we serve.”

A Success Story from the Circle

“One of my favorite success stories goes back to 2018, when I was invited to reengage a group of 10th-grade boys at Springfield Renaissance High School in my hometown of Springfield, Massachusetts. The group had disbanded due to a lack of funding, but I saw an opportunity to revive it in a way that would have a lasting impact.

I created The Young King Mentor Group—an initiative designed to equip these young men with essential life skills, broaden their cultural perspective, and open doors to opportunities for success. The results speak for themselves: every single one of those young men graduated from high school, found employment, and several went on to college. Today, years later, we’re still connected, and I continue to mentor them. In fact, one of those Young Kings now works for me—I’m his boss, but more importantly, I’m still his mentor.”

Kevin’s Pro-Tip for Circle Facilitators

“Lead with Authenticity – Share your real stories and personal experiences. Vulnerability builds trust, and trust opens the door for others to share their own truths.”

Why Circles Matter in Today’s Mental Health Crisis

“The CDC reports that 4 in 10 high schoolers experience persistent sadness or hopelessness, and in our work, we see the weight of those numbers every day. Many of the youth in our initiatives are living with the emotional fallout of father absence—feelings of abandonment, low self-worth, and uncertainty about their identity.

These struggles can manifest as poor academic performance, social withdrawal, behavioral issues, or even contact with the juvenile justice system. Our Circle initiatives create a safe, supportive space where youth can process their emotions, build trust, and develop resilience. We provide consistent mentorship, positive role models, and opportunities for youth to engage in meaningful activities that foster confidence and connection. By involving fathers and father figures, we address a critical gap in many young people’s lives, helping them feel seen, valued, and supported. We’ve found that when youth know they have a stable circle of caring adults, their emotional health improves, their sense of hope grows, and they begin to believe in their own potential.”

Support This Work

As we close out the year, we invite you to consider a contribution to the Year-End Campaign, to help helping us prepare more caring adults like Kevin who create safe, healing, connection-centered spaces for youth.

Thank you, Kevin!

And thank you to every facilitator showing up with compassion, presence, and authenticity. Your work continues to transform lives.
